Meet Alhaji Yahaya Rabe Yahaya, the new Jakadan Daura

The city of Daura is agog today, April 3, 2021, as dignitaries from all walks of life have converged on the city to witness the turbaning ceremony of Alhaji Yahaya Rabe Yahaya, as the new Jakadan Daura. The title was conferred on him by His Royal Highness, the Emir of Daura, Alh. Dr Umar Farouq Umar, CON.

He was born in Daura on July 16, 1982, to the family of Alhaji Rabe Yahaya, the son of Alhaji Yahaya Na-Waziri, from the clan of Alkalawa Fulani, who were given the flag of Daura by Sheikh Usman Bn Fodio in 1806.

Going by his lineage, the new Jakadan Daura is the son of Alhaji Rabe Yahaya, the son of Alhaji Yahaya Na Waziri, the son of Alkali Ali, the son of Fada Babba Yusuf, the son of Fada Babba Mu’azu (Mataki).

Mu’azu is also the son of Dan-Jagge who was Fada Babba during the reign of the 5th Fulani ruler, Sarki Muhammad Bello.

After the conquest of Daura, Malam Isaka was installed as the first Fulani Emir of Daura and Malam Dan-Jagge was appointed as the Fada Babha of Daura by Sarki Isaka.

After the death of Fada Babba Dan-Jagge, his son, Mu’azu Mayaki, was also appointed as Fada Babba by the 5th Fulani Emir of Daura, Muhammed Bello. Fada Babba Yusuf, the son of Fada Babba Mu’azu Mayaki was appointed by the 7th Fulani Emir of Daura, Muhammadu Mai-Gardo.

Following the death of Fada Babba Yusuf, his son, Ali, was appointed the Alkali of Daura and his second son, Labaran, was appointed Fada Babba.

Alkali Ali is the father of Alhaji Yahaya Na Waziri, who is the father of Alhaji Rabe Yahaya. Rabe Yahaya is the father of Alhaji Yahaya Rabe Yahaya, the new Jakada of Daura.

Alhaji Yahaya Rabe attended Tudun wada Primary School from 1990 to 1996 and proceeded to the Government Day Secondary School, Daura. He completed his secondary school education in 2001. He also attended the Yusufu Bala Usman College of Legal General Studies, Daura, from 2007-2009, where he obtained a diploma in Development Studies.

In the year 2007, the young and vibrant prince was appointed as Special Adviser to the then Chairman of Daura Local Government Area, Alhaji Aminu Manzo.

After that he was appointed as Special Adviser to the Chairman, Caretaker Committee by the Katsina State Government.

In the year 2014, he was again appointed a Special Adviser to the Chairman of Daura Local Government. He is currently with the Education and Social Services Department at the local government.

Alhaji Yahaya Rabe Yahaya has traveled extensively within Nigeria and beyond and has garnered a lot of experience on human interactions and development.  His ability to relate with people from different parts of the country and all sectors of the economy has endeared him to many.

The new Jakadan Daura is married to three wives and is blessed with three children namely Yusuf, Hafsat and Abubakar. His hobbies include football and table tennis.

Speaking with Daily Trust Saturday, the new Jakadan Daura expressed his profound appreciation on behalf of himself, family, friends and especially the organizing committee, to His Excellency, Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masai, (Matawallen Hausa, Dalatun Katsina) for all he has done and continues to do for people of the state.

“Your Excellency Sir, only Allah can reward you for your kind gesture,” he said.

He equally expressed gratitude to members of the Federal Executive Council, State Executive Council, National Assembly, Katsina State House of Assembly members, Head of Federal/State Parastatals and agencies and other well-wishers for sparing time to grace the occasion from far and near either personally or through representation.
