The Vice Chancellor of the newly established Medical Science University, Uburu, Ebonyi State, Prof. Jesse Uneke, yesterday said the institution has secured approval for 17 departments as it kicks off for academic activities.
Uneke explained that approval was issued by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and that the maiden matriculation of the institution would come up on December 2.
He made this known at the University in Uburu in Ohanzara Local Government Area of the state on Thursday during a media briefing.
The school was built by the present administration in the state and handed over to the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) to manage by the state governor, David Umahi.
Uneke, however, explained that work is still ongoing in some sections of the University Teaching Hospital.
The units, he said, include the oxygen production and dialyzer production plant.
“Presently, the institution has secured approval of 17 departments from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
“These 17 departments will serve as our take off ground for academic activities in the school next month,” he stated.
