The Medicaid Cancer Foundation, in collaboration with the Kebbi State Ministry of Health, has sensitised Christian leaders under the aegis of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on cancer screening and prevention.
Speaking during the exercise at the Watchman Chapel Church, Badariya, Birnin Kebbi, the Commissioner for Health, Jafaru Muhammad, solicited the support of pastors in enlightening their congregations about cancer.
A statement from the foundation quoted the Commissioner of Health who was represented by Dr Nuhu Koko, the Manager of Kebbi Cancer Control Programme, as saying Gov Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has contributed N30m to fund the fight against cancer.
The commissioner, therefore, urged the Christian community to take advantage of the state cancer control programme, adding that so far more than 300 cancer patients had benefitted from the fund.
The CAN Chairman in Kebbi State, Rev Isah Dangana, thanked the governor and the first lady for their show of love to the Christian community, as well as support for cancer control and other humanitarian services in the state.
