As part of its tradition of rewarding creativity, Media Trust Group, owners of Daily Trust Newspaper, Trust TV and Trust Radio, celebrate outstanding staff members on a yearly basis.

“There is a common saying that the reward of hard work is more work. For us online in the online department, the work is very tough; there have been many sleepless nights trying to stay on top. I am delighted that we didn’t bring the company into trouble in any form, like litigation, or put the brand in a bad light.

“The only thing we have going for us a a company is trust; once the trust is gone, there is nothing left. On this award, I must say this is very encouraging, not just to me but to the team members.

“I am happy, and I hope I will not disappoint because, as I said, it’s not just receiving this award; there is a standard and a measure that is being expected. So, I will try to scale it up with my team members to think more and add value to what we do.”

Isiyaku Muhammed, who received the Integrity Award, said it was a call for more action, adding that he dedicated his award to his late father for inspiring him to give his best in life.

“I thank the management for finding me worthy of the award, and I want to assure them that they will see an improved version of me. I have more to offer, and I will improve and give more. To my fellow awardees, I am calling on them to see this as a wake-up call. It has been said that to whom much is given, much is expected.”

“Let’s improve on what we did that earned us this award. Special thanks to all editorial staff, especially the Aminiya team; this award is for all of us,” he said.

Ayuba Ilya, another Excellence Award recipient, said the honour would boost his morale.

“The secret to success and achieving this is simple: do what you are expected to do and what you need to do to present and deliver the job in the most professional way possible. And do not try to impress anybody; just do your job the way it should be done, and also not be bothered about your remuneration, whether it’s enough or not.

“Also, there is a tendency of feeling not to deliver because you feel your remuneration is not enough. Whatever you are doing, do it to the best of your ability. I think that is the secret.”
