Media Trust appoints Gwadabe Deputy Editor-in-Chief

The Board of Directors of Media Trust Group has appointed Maude Rabiu Gwadabe as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Daily Trust and chairman of its Editorial Board.

A statement issued by the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the group, Ahmad Shekarau, said the new Deputy Editor-in-Chief will serve both the print and digital arms of Daily Trust.

Gwadabe served as the Head, Hausa Service of Media Trust Limited from January 2023 where he led the team to triple the digital footprint of Aminiya Trust.

A former lecturer at Bayero University Kano, Gwadabe bagged a PhD in Mass Communication in 2019 after an M.A. in Political Communication from the University of Leeds, UK, as a British Chevening Scholar in 2013.

He started his career as a broadcast journalist with Freedom Radio Kano where he rose to the position of Head of News and Current Affairs.

He also had a stint with the BBC World Service (Hausa) as a broadcast and multimedia journalist.

From 2019 to 2020, he was the Nigeria Project Manager for the establishment of Radio Ndarason International in Maiduguri, a Kanuri language peacebuilding radio station for the Lake Chad region.

He also served as pioneer General Manager of two radio stations in Kano; Nasara FM and Premier FM.

Gwadabe was the founder of Kano Focus online newspaper and Tarihi TV.

He is also a media consultant and trainer for various international organisations such as iMedia, UNICEF and DFID.
