Mechanic, kidnapper killed during gun battle in Plateau

A mechanic, Umar Abdullahi and a kidnapper have been killed during a gun battle in NEPA community, Jos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

It was learnt that some kidnappers had wanted to abduct Abdullahi in his residence on Tuesday during which a shootout ensued between him and the gang.

A resident of the area, Idris Ibrahim, told Daily Trust that the kidnappers stormed the mechanic’s compound around 2:00am and in attempt to foil the abduction, Abdullahi shot one of the kidnappers dead.

Idris added, “When the remaining kidnappers discovered that one of them had been killed, they forced themselves into Umar’s house and killed him. The corpse of the kidnapper had been taken to Katako Police Divisional Headquarters.

The police spokesperson in the state, DSP Alabo Alfred, did not answer calls or respond to the SMS sent to him by our correspondent as of the time of filing this report.
