McGregor knocks out Aldo, becomes world champion

Conor McGregor took just 13 seconds to knock out Jose Aldo and become the UFC featherweight champion on Saturday.
The Irishman had talked the talk in the lead-up to UFC 194 and he delivered at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
McGregor’s left-hook caught Aldo in the jaw and knocked him out, with the Brazilian landing one of his own as he fell.
With his win, McGregor improved to 19-2, while Aldo’s record is now 25-2 after his first loss since November 2005.
A delighted McGregor said: “No power, just precision. No speed, just timing. That’s all it takes. These are four-ounce gloves. That’s all it takes.
“He’s strong and he’s fast but precision beats power and timing beats speed. I feel for Jose. He was a phenomenal champion. He deserved to go a little bit longer … It would have happened sooner or later.”
A stunned Aldo replied: “I threw a punch and he came back with a cross. We need a rematch. It wasn’t a fight so we need to get back in there.”
