Max Air CEO, Bashir Mangal, buried in Katsina

The Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Max Air, Alhaji Bashir Barau Mangal, has been buried in Katsina, Katsina State. 

Bashir Mangal who was the younger brother of business mogul and Chairman of Max Air, Alhaji Dahiru Bara’u Mangal, died in the early hours of Friday in Abuja after a brief illness. 

He was buried at the Danmarna Cemetery around 6pm yesterday after funeral prayers led by Iman Mustapha of the Katsina Central Mosque.

Dignitaries who attended the funeral include the older Mangal; Katsina Deputy Governor,  Mannir Yakubu; Sokoto State Governor,  Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; a former Kebbi State Governor, Senator Adamu Aliero and the Secretary to the Katsina State Government, Alhaji Muntari Lawal.

Aged 53, Bashir is survived with two wives and five children.

Under his leadership, Max Air gained popularity in airlifting Hajj pilgrims and expanded in its domestic operations and has become one of the scheduled domestic operators in Nigeria; flying into 13 local destinations. 

A foremost aviator, Capt Ibrahim Yunusa, described the late Mangal thus: “He was approachable. He was a man of the people. If you talked to him, he would listen. He was a friendly person. When something brings you together with him, he was very entertaining.”
