Dear Governor Uba Sani,
I trust this message finds you well. Given the multitude of pressing issues you are undoubtedly managing during these challenging times, it is understandable that some matters may have escaped your immediate notice.
However, several critical concerns at Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic (Annex Campus) necessitate your urgent attention to ensure the institution’s effective operation and the well-being of its students and staff.
One of the most pressing issues currently facing Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic is the extended power outage that has lasted nearly two weeks. This disruption was caused by the theft of essential components from the transformer, which has left the campus without electricity for an extended period.

The impact of this power loss has been substantial. Academic activities, administrative functions, and even basic services have been severely hindered, affecting students’ learning experiences and staff productivity.
The lack of electricity also poses a significant security risk, as the absence of power in key areas makes the campus more vulnerable to thefts and vandalism. To mitigate this problem, it is imperative to not only replace the stolen components but also strengthen security measures around critical infrastructure to prevent similar incident in future.
Another urgent concern is the deteriorating condition of the school hostel. Reports indicate that the hostel is currently in a state of disrepair, with no functional toilets for students. This situation has created extremely unsanitary conditions, which are unacceptable for any educational institution. Some hostel rooms are reportedly occupied by unauthorised individuals, compromising both the safety and security of the students residing there.
Immediate action is needed to address the unacceptable conditions. Restoring basic sanitation facilities and ensuring that only authorised individuals have access to the hostel are crucial steps in improving the living conditions for students.
A thorough inspection and renovation of the hostel facilities may be necessary to bring them up to acceptable standards and ensure a safe and conducive environment for student accommodation.
The school also faces significant challenges related to its security personnel and staffing. Recently, a majority of the casual security staff were disengaged, and new (KADVIS) security personnel were hired to fill the gaps. Unfortunately, it has come to light that a considerable number of these new personnel are currently missing due to issues related to unpaid salaries.
This situation has left the campus inadequately secure, which is a serious concern given the recent theft incident and the overall need for a safe learning environment.
It is essential to ensure that all security personnel are paid promptly and are present for their duties. A review of the current security staffing and management practices should be conducted to improve the overall effectiveness and reliability of campus security. Ensuring that all personnel are properly trained and equipped will be crucial in preventing future security breaches and maintaining a safe campus environment.
The culmination of these issues highlights a broader need for a comprehensive overhaul of various aspects of the institution’s operations. From infrastructure maintenance and security management to staff recruitment and financial management, there are multiple areas that require immediate attention and improvement.
A strategic plan to address these issues holistically will be essential in restoring the institution to its proper functioning and ensuring that it meets the needs of its students and staff effectively.
The challenges currently faced by Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic are significant and require prompt and decisive action. Addressing the extended power outage, improving hostel conditions, resolving security staffing issues, and implementing a comprehensive overhaul are all critical steps toward restoring the institution’s functionality and ensuring a safe and conducive environment for learning and administration.
Your attention to these matters would be greatly appreciated. I am confident that with your intervention, these issues can be resolved effectively, leading to a more stable and functional educational environment for all stakeholders.
Thank you for your consideration and anticipated action on these pressing concerns.
