The mastermind of the abduction and killing of seven family members of the Chief of Mutum Biyu, headquarters of Gassol LGA of Taraba State, has been arrested by vigilantes.
City & Crime recalls that seven family members of the Chief of Mutum Biyu: two wives and five children, were abducted in February, 2023, in the chief’s private residence in Jalingo, capital of Taraba State, and were later killed by their abductors.
City & Crime further reports that one year five months later, one 85-year-old Umaru Usman, aka Malam Tambaya, was arrested by vigilantes in the Dakka area in Bali LGA in connection with the abduction and killing.
It was gathered that the suspect allegedly led the gang of kidnappers to the residence of the chief last year and that he confessed to the crime.

A vigilante told City & Crime that the suspect had since been handed over to the police.
When contacted, the acting police spokesman in the state, DSP Kwache Gambo, said two suspects were arrested in connection with the abduction and killing of the family members of the chief.
