The round of 16 of this year’s Daura Senatorial Zone Governor Masari Unity Super Cup will commence today at the refurbished Daura Township stadium.

After group matches, Eagle Stars, Musa Haro Academy, Arewa United, New Generation, FC Porto Zango, FC Hadi Sirika Daura, FC Ashafa Zango and Kankia United qualified for quarter-finals.

According to the quarter-final draws made available to Daily Trust by the organisers, Eagle Stars will lock horns with Arewa United Kankia today as the battle for semi-final tickets begin in earnest.

On Tuesday, September 7, Musa Haro Academy will square up with New Generation Ingawa in the second quarter-final match.

The competition will observe one day break and resume on Thursday, September 9, with the local derby between FC Porto Zango and FC Ashafa Zango just as the last quarter-final match between FC Hadi Sirika and Kankia United will be held on Friday, September 10.

FC Porto Zango are among the four clubs that have reached the semi-finals in the Daura Senatorial Zone PMB Cup.

They are billed to battle New United FC of Daura for a place in the finals.

Like the PMB Cup, Masari Unity Cup is an annual football tournament for amateur clubs in the 12 local government areas in Daura Senatorial Zone.

 

Both tournaments are for the purpose of identifying hidden talents at the grassroots.
