Masari Unity Cup semi-finals start today

The first semi-final match of the ongoing Daura Senatorial Zone ‘Masari Unity Super Cup’ will be held today as Eagle Stars FC of Maiadua lock horns with Musa Haro Academy of Daura at the Daura township stadium.

The youth football tournament which features amateur clubs in the 12 Local Government Areas that fall under Daura Senatorial Zone is organised in honour of the Governor of Katsina State. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari.

To reach the semi-finals, Eagle Stars FC defeated Arewa United FC Kankia 3-2 on penalties while FC Porto edged out Ashafa FC Zango 3-1 on penalties after 1-1 draw in regulation time to set up the second semi-final match with Hadi Sirika Academy Daura who defeated Kankia United FC 5-3 in the last quarter-final match.

Therefore, the second semi-finals will be played on Tuesday, September 28, between FC Porto Zango and Hadi Sirika Academy.

Chairman Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the tournament, Alhaji Sani Abu Daura said the finals of the PMB ‘Next Level’ Cup and Masari Unity Cup will be played on the same day, if FC Porto do not reach the finals in both tournaments.

Apart from tomorrow’s match, FC Zango are billed to face New United Daura in the semi-finals of the President Muhammadu Buhari Cup.

“We are planning to have the two finals the same day. However, we may be forced to change plans, if FC Porto reach the finals in both the Masari Unity Cup and PMB Cup.

“Both finals would be attended by prominent Nigerians, especially football administrators and former Super Eagles players,” said Daura.
