Katsina state Government is to complete the ongoing rehabilitation of houses of District Heads in its two emirates of Katsina and Daura, the state governor Aminu Masari has said.
Masari spoke when he received the chairman and members of Katsina state Council of Emirs and Chiefs under the leadership of Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmummuni Kabir Usman.
He said, the traditional houses are institutional structures that depict the culture of the people.
“Even the newly established districts in the state would be provided with befitting residential houses” .
According to him, the traditional institutionwith its wide structure can be used to solve the current societal problems, especially as it borders on armed banditry and kidnapping.
He, therefore, said the task before government is to ensure sustenance of the structure of traditional rulers for more effective security in the state.
The Governor noted with satisfaction the role of Emirs and District Heads who never shy away from speaking out their minds “no matter whose ox is gored’’.
On security, Alhaji Aminu Masari reiterated the need for all hands to be on deck to achieve effective security in the state.
He further requested for parental guidance as part of efforts to check the menace of drug abuse.
On the just concluded 2019 general elections, the governor said people in the state have displayed maturity and discipline as the exercise was concluded without any problem in any part of the state.
While expressing gratitude to the emirs for their tremendous support to the APC administration, the Governor promised to continue to apply state resources to improve the living conditions of people.
Earlier, the Chairman of Katsina State Council of Emirs and Chiefs, Alhaji Abdulmummuni Kabir Usman, spoke at length on the efforts of the two Emirs in checking societal problems.
According to him, several development associations were formed to be monitoring the happenings in their domains as part of effort to check insecurity.
While congratulating President Muhammadu Buhari and the governor for their victory at the polls, the emir commended Masari for his quick response to problems brought to him.
On his part, the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk expressed appreciation to the Governor for the completion of inherited projects and providing new ones that have significantly touched and improve the socio-economic status of the people.
