Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has said that with the life-changing interventions carried out by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, President Muhammadu Buhari has laid a solid foundation for social security system in the country.
The governor stated this when he received in audience, representatives of the ministry in his office, led by the Director Humanitarian Affairs, Alhaji Ali Grema, who was in the state for the official launching of ECOWAS stabilization fund.
He said over N1.4 billion comes to the beneficiaries of the conditional cash transfer in the state every two months, saying if that was expanded to cover all the LGAs in the state, it would have a far-reaching impact of the lives of the needy.
“With this cash transfer, it is hoped that the beneficiaries will be able to educate their children, which is very critical in the development of the country and there is no better way to it than when families, particularly in the rural communities, are economically empowered,” he said.
Masari said the school feeding programme had also greatly encouraged school enrolment, particularly girl child, in addition to other economic empowerments that are attached to it.
