Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, on Monday inaugurated an administrative committee to investigate the remote cause of fire outbreak that razed the Katsina central market a week ago.
While swearing in the members of the committee at the Katsina Government House, Governor Masari charged them to investigate and determine the causes of the fire incident and the extent of damage at the market.
The committee has four weeks to submit its report.
In his acceptance address, the chairman of the committee, who is the state Commissioner for Works, Transport and Housing, Hon. Tasi’u Dahiru Dandagoro, promised that they would justify the confidence reposed on them.
Meanwhile, the Sokoto State government has donated the sum of N20m to victims of the fire outbreak at the Katsina central market.
Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal announced the donation when he visited Katsina State Governor Masari to register his sympathy over the incidence.
Governor Tambuwal also announced another donation of N30m on behalf of Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) and also registered the sympathy of the chairman of the forum Dr. Kayode Fayemi to government and traders affected by the inferno.
In his response, Masari thanked both the Sokoto State governor and the NGF for their concern.
