At age 93, comic book creator John Romita Sr passed away. He was most recognised for his work on “The Amazing Spider-Man” and for co-creating characters like Wolverine.
The news was confirmed on Twitter on Tuesday night by his son, John Romita Jr.
He tweeted, “I say this with a heavy heart, My father passed away peacefully in his sleep. He is a legend in the art world, and it would be my honor to follow in his footsteps. Please keep your thoughts and condolences here out of respect for my family,” “He was the greatest man I ever met”.
Romita Sr was born on January 24, 1930, in Brooklyn and graduated from the School of Art and Design in Manhattan before working for DC Comics for eight years.
Later, he joined Marvel Comics to collaborate with business founder Stan Lee on “The Amazing Spider-Man,” and in the 1970s and 1980s, he rose to the position of art director at the company.
