A machine operator has been killed by guards at Abuja Timber Market in Deidei for allegedly snatching the phones of two women in the area.
Our correspondent gathered that the guards confronted two people after an alarm was raised by the girls but later discovered they were machine operators in the market.

“One of the suspects lost his life in the hands of the security guards, while the other sustained injuries.
“It’s still not clear whether the suspects scaled the fence of the market to steal, or just passed through the market to access where they used to sleep at night,” one of the sources said.
The source further said the police, who arrived from the Gwagwa division the following morning, picked him away.
There were mild protests by members of the Igala community, who control a large number of timber machine operators as well as other services, over the action against the two suspects.
The FCT police spokeswoman, DSP Josephine Adeh, was yet to respond to our reporter’s text message over the incident, as of press time.
