Senator Mark maintained that the essence of government anywhere in the world was for the welfare and security of the people saying “ I am always conscious of the fact that what affects the people will be paramount in all my programmes and ultimate actions”.
Speaking when he played host to political leaders from Ogbadibo local government area of Benue state at his Otukpo country home at the weekend, Mark said he would continue to respond to the yearnings and aspirations of the people in positive ways.
The President of the Senate added that he would work hard for the actualization of the creation of Apa state out of the present day Benue state stressing “that is the utmost desire of every Idoma man and woman”.
A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the senate president, Paul Mumeh said Mark counselled the people to be law abiding and ensure that nothing was done to circumvent the rules of the game in the next year elections.
He said: “the desire of every right thinking Nigerian is to have a free, fair and credible polls in 2011.. Therefore, all of us must be ready to play the game according the rules without rancour or friction”.
Earlier, the spokesman of the delegation Dickson Okute assured the President of the Senate of the continued support and loyalty of the people but not without requesting him to attract development projects as well as employment opportunities to the area.
