Mark made the call while declaring open a conference of the National Assembly and 36 state houses of assembly committees on education on the theme “Transforming Nigerian Education Sector” in Abuja on Tuesday. Mark said the intermittent strikes by ASUU has affected education negatively and appealed to all parties involved to come to an agreement so students can return to schools. Mark who was represented by Senator Solomon Ganiyu said attention should be placed on time lines for completion of academic programmes. He also said there is a need to make university curriculum entrepreneurial, such that graduates can be self employed to reduce high unemployment rates which has remained the bane of our society. Senate Committee Chairman on Education Senator Uche Chukwumerije said though funding is the root of most crisis in institutions, many states have refused to access their funds at Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).
