Many killed in fresh attacks in Niger

Some communities in Gurmana Ward of Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State have been attacked again by gunmen.

Daily Trust learnt that Sarkin Zama, Bakin Kogi (Lagbe), Siyiko and adjoining villages were invaded by armed men who operated unchallenged for hours.

According to the Co-Convener of Concerned Shiroro Youths, Sani Yusuf Kokki, some residents were killed in the attacks few hours after students and staff were abducted at Government Science College, Kagara in Rafi LGA of the state.

In a statement, Kokki said, “Countless deadly attacks have become daily occurrences thereby compelling the residents to live at the mercy of the hydra-headed monsters. Defenseless, unarmed and peaceful locals have been abandoned to their fate.”

The police spokesman in the state, Wasiu Abiodun, did not answer calls and did not reply to an SMS sent to him about the attacks.
