No fewer than four people sustained various degrees of injuries while a few vehicles were vandalised in Dutse, Jigawa State capital when two factions of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) clashed in the state.
The clash occurred Tuesday afternoon during the party’s rally in support of its governorship candidate in the state.

Reports indicated that the APC members under the umbrella of Danmodi Youths Concerned (DYC) organised a political rally in support of the candidate who is also the incumbent deputy governor of the state, Alhaji Umar Namadi Danmodi, in Dutse.
Confirming the crisis, the Jigawa Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Lawal Shi’isu Adam, said police quickly intervened in the crisis that erupted between the two groups.
The PPRO explained, “A report at our disposal indicated that a political group under the age of Danmodi Youths Concerned (DYC) organised a political rally in support of one of the governorship candidates.
“They gathered at the Investment area of Dutse metropolis, with a plan to visit the orphanage centre and go round the city.
“They said in the process and distributions of some materials in relation with the rally shirts and other items, they had misunderstanding within themselves and broke among themselves,” the PPRO added.
He said operatives quickly intervened by dispersing them and that peace had already been restored.
Efforts to reach out to the organisers of the rally proved abortive at the time of filing this report.
