Many injured in 2 separate road accidents

Many persons sustained injuries in two separate auto crashes which occurred in Lagos between Friday and Saturday.

Both accidents involved two different container-laden trucks.

While in the first accident, a fully loaded 40ft containerized truck fell on an SUV car with registration no EKY 723 OS at Ago Palace Road inward Apple Junction, the second truck crashed into many shops at Iyana-Era bus stop, on the Mile 2 Badagry Expressway.

The second accident occurred less than eight hours after the first truck crashed into an SUV at Ago Palace Way.

The Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Adebayo Taofiq, said investigation into Friday’s incident revealed that the 40ft containerized truck had a break failure and crushed into the SUV car from the rear.

Taofik said LASTMA officials said no casualty was recorded during the accident.

The second incident which occurred on Saturday left many shop owners injured and properties worth millions destroyed.

Multiple eye-witness accounts had it that the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle and in a bid to stop it before crashing into the shops.
