Suspected armed bandits on Thursday attacked Gidan Goga community in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, leaving an uncertain number of people dead, Daily Trust gathered.
Residents told Daily Trust that armed men arrived at the community on motorbikes firing at residents before they herded away cows and other domestic animals.

A former commissioner for Education in the state, who also hails from the community, Alhaji Ibrahim Danmalikin Gidan Goga, told Daily Trust that the gunmen arrived around 1pm.
“Soldiers were alerted and they arrived even before the armed criminals fled. Gun duel ensued between soldiers and the armed bandits. I can’t tell you the precise number of people that died in the attack now, but I can tell you that many of the residents have fled the community,” he said.
The spokesman of the state police command, SP Muhammad Shehu could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report.
