Man who kidnapped own daughter gets bail

A magistrates’ court at the Hajj Camp in Kano has granted bail to Fahad Ali, who was accused of kidnapping his four-year-old daughter and demanding ransom from his wife, the mother of the child.

Ali, who denied the offence when the charges were read to him, was asked to provide two sureties: his village head and village chief imam.

The Magistrate, Sakina Aminu, adjourned the case to December 9, 2020.

Daily Trust reports that earlier the mother of the child, Shamsiyya Mohammed, reported to the police that on September 19, her daughter was kidnapped and that the abductor called and asked her to pay N2m for the child to be released, threatening to kill her if the money was not paid.

After two weeks of investigation, the police found out that it was her husband, Fahad Ali, who was making the calls and the girl was found with him.
