Man to sweep street, court premises for calling married woman on phone

A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to three weeks of sweeping a street and one week of sweeping a court premises and toilets for admitting to calling a married woman on phone.

The man was earlier arraigned before the court presided over by Justice Abdu Abdullahi Waiya by the Kano State Police Command over a count charge of trying to woo a married woman, an act which is against the norms and teachings of Islam.

After the defendant pleaded guilty to the charge, the judge held that the defendant having realised and regretted his mistake should sweep the street where the married woman was living for three weeks, and also sweep the premises and toilets of the court for one week.

He also ordered the convict to attend Islamic lessons in the Dala LGA Hisbah Command to get more knowledge about Islam.
