A Benue State High Court sitting in Makurdi has sentenced a 28-year-old man, Isaac Samson, to death by hanging for armed robbery.
The convict was handed the judgement after being pronounced guilty by the presiding judge, Justice A.M Ikpamgbese.

The court had heard that Isaac Samson and Felix Anum, among others who are now at large, had on October 28, 2016 broken into the residence of one Peter Ijato behind Benue State Civil Service Commission and robbed his family of the sum of N110, 500, two laptop computers valued at N210,000, jewelleries and ATM cards, among other items.
Prosecuting Counsel, Inspector John Bala, who gave evidence on oath testified before the court, that policemen from ‘B’ Division arrested the convict at the scene of the crime with weapons on the said date.
Although, the convict pleaded not guilty during cross examination but the judge, held there was no supportive evidence and thus sentenced him to death by hanging or by firing squad.
