Man stabs wife to death in Anambra

A middle-aged man, Kingsley Igwe, has stabbed his wife to death with a knife in Nise, Awka South Local Government Area of the Anambra State.

The suspect, according to an eyewitness, ran amok in circumstances yet to be ascertained and stabbed his wife, aged 31, with a kitchen knife, inflicting multiple injuries all over her body which resulted in her death.

Confirming the incident and the arrest, the police spokesperson in the state, CSP Haruna Mohammed, said that on 4/3/2021 at about 4:am, police operatives attached to 3-3 Police Station arrested one Kingsley Igwe aged 35 years of Nise in Awka South LGA but resident at Dueze Street Otigba in 3-3 Area of Anambra State for killing his wife with a kitchen knife.

He also said the police detectives immediately moved to the scene and rushed the victim to Apex Hospital for medical attention where she was certified dead on arrival by a medical doctor.

The corpse has been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.

According to him, the knife used in perpetrating the act was also recovered and registered as an exhibit.

He added that the State Commissioner of Police, Monday Bala Kuryas, has directed the DPO to transfer the case to State CID, Awka, for discreet investigation in order to unravel the actual cause of the incident.
