Man robs, slits Kogi varsity student’s throat

A 200-level student in the Department of Cyber Security at the  Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara in Kogi State, Usman Tijani, was reportedly lured into the bush at New Zango in Adavi LGA by a close friend, robbing him of N200,000 after slitting his throat.

Reports from the area said the incident happened between 7pm to 8pm on Monday close to the burial ground in the area.

According to the locals, the victim was found unconscious and rescued around 2am on Tuesday at a nearby bush close to the burial ground.

The 19-year-old victim who also runs a Point of Service (POS) business in the vicinity is said to be receiving treatment in a hospital in Lokoja.

A nephew of the victim, Zainab Avosuahu, said the suspect allegedly lured him into the bush, collected N200,000 from him and slit his throat.

“Please, this is a call for justice for my nephew whom his friend dragged to the bush, collected N200,000 from him and still has his throat butchered.

“He is currently undergoing surgery in Lokoja while the devil in disguise of a friend is on the run. Please we are on the lookout for him”, she said.

According to the SSA Media and Publicity to the Adavi LGA chairman, Suleiman Abdulrazaq Acheneje, the victim was found nearly dead and rescued around 2am in the new Zango settlement in the council.

“He was immediately rushed to Lokoja and has since been receiving treatment in the hospital”, he said.

Meanwhile, the Kogi State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Williams Aya, has confirmed the incident and the arrest of the suspect, Abdulmuqeet Musari.

“The suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody, and the investigation is ongoing. He will be arraigned in court, on completion of investigation”, he said.
