An Oredo Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Benin has remanded one Monday Igielugbo, 39, in Oko custodial centre for allegedly assaulting and inserting his finger into the private part of a 17-year-old girl.
The prosecutor, ASP Osayomwanbor Omoruyi, told the court that the accused person committed the offence on January 28 and 29, at WAEC Road, Aduwawa area.
He said on January 28, Igielugbo indecently assaulted the teenager by putting his hand into her vagina.
He also said that the accused person also took the teenager’s phone valued at N3,000 after the assault.
The prosecutor added that “On January 29, at the same place, the accused person also robbed one Glory Ngozi of an Itel phone valued at N21,000, body spray valued at N2,500, Bible valued at N2,500, and scarf valued at N1,000.”
He explained that the complainants came from a church situated along a bush and the accused person attacked them.
The accused person however pleaded not guilty and requested for bail which was objected to by the prosecutor on the grounds that the offence is not bailable.
Chief Magistrate Patricia Igho-Braimah remanded the accused person in custody and adjourned the case to March 9, for hearing.
