“My Lord, the accused lured the little girl into his apartment, removed her pants and inserted his finger into her private parts before he allowed her to go, having satisfied himself,” the prosecutor,  Victor Eruada, said.

He said the victim‘s mother who saw her daughter coming out of the accused apartment tried to find out what she had gone to do there.

“The little girl opened up and told her mother what the accused did to her. The unruly conduct of the accused was reported to the police in the area and he was arrested. He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation.

“My Lord, during interrogation, the accused admitted that he inserted his finger into the girl’s private parts but did not penetrate her,” he said.

The court did not take his plea or grant him bail after the prosecutor, Mr Victor Eruada, asked the court to refer the matter to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs M. O. Tanimola, ordered his remand in the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
