A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos State has ordered the remand of a 39-year-old man, Joshua Oche, for allegedly having sexual intercourse with his 16-year old daughter.
The police said the accused, who resides in Ikeja area of Lagos, has been engaging his own daughter in sex since 2022 before his action was eventually made public.
The traumatized girl was said to have warned her father to desist or risked being exposed.
The prosecutor, Lucky Ihiehie, told the court that despite the threat, the father continued until the girl reported the matter to the police.

He was then arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the state police command for interrogation, he said.
The court did not take his plea as the prosecutor asked the court to refer the matter to the Department of Public Prosecution ( DPP) for legal advice.
The magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, ordered the defendant to be remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP.
