Man remanded over robbery, kidnapping

A magistrates’ court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has remanded a 40-year-old man, Sumo Muhammadu, in prison over alleged armed robbery and kidnapping.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant on October 15, 2023, at about 8pm in Ido-Ekiti robbed one Ayuba Mohammed and Usman Mohammed of their phones at gunpoint.

Oriyomi also alleged that the defendant kidnapped Ayuba Mohammed.

The Magistrate, Mr Olarewaju Owoleso, ordered the remand of the defendant pending legal advice from DPP and adjourned the case to May 6.
