A magistrate court No 16 of No Man’s Land Kano state has ordered that Bashir Yahaya, a resident of Ladanai quarters, to be remanded in prison custody over fraud of N180,000.
The court prosecutor, Inspector Sani Musa told the court that one Shaawanatu Sani Ibrahim of Kurna Alasawa went to Metro area command office with a letter of complaint against Bashir Yahaya of Ladanai quarters Kano.
She said sometimes between the month of December 2018 and January 2019 the accused deceived her and introduced himself as financial consultant of Bank of Industry (BoI) and lured her into depositing the sum of N180,000 to his First Bank account with the pretense to secure her a financial loan from the BoI but dishonestly converted the money to his own personal use.
The prosecutor further Stated that “during investigation the accused confessed to have committed the crime and the sum of N60,000 was recovered on him as exhibit.”
The accused person pleaded not guilty to two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating contrary to sections 312 and 322 of Penal Code Law.
The presiding judge, Chief Magistrate Ibrahim Khaleel Mahmood ordered that the accused person to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to 21st March, 2019.
