An Ejigbo, Lagos, chief magistrate’s court, has remanded one Donald Okey for allegedly beating his neighbour’s younger sister, who the police said lost two teeth as a result of the assault, while a small part of his own lip was bitten off.
The neighbour, Miss Lucky Sunday, admitted she did bite off Okey’s lip, saying she had no option but to do so as a defence after he had hit her with a wood during a minor argument. City News gathered that the accused lost his cool after Sunday continually rained abuses on him and consequently grabbed a wood that he hit her with.
Both the accused and the victim reside at Olu-Oti Street in Egbeda, Lagos.
Okey was arrested and charged to court following a report that the victim lodged at the station. He was charged before the court for the alleged assault and for inflicting injury on Sunday.
He pleaded not guilty.
The magistrate granted Okey bail in the sum of N50,000, with two sureties in like sum and remanded him in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till February 28, 2018.
