Man remanded over attempted kidnap, rape in Ekiti

An Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court has ordered the remand of a man, Tolu Lawal (27), in prison over attempted kidnapping and rape.

Earlier, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi told the court that the defendant was suspected to have committed the offences of attempted kidnapping and attempted punishable under Sections 280 and 268 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021.

The prosecutor pointed out that a remand request was supported by a six-paragraph affidavit, the statements of the victim and the defendant.

He added that the duplicate case file had been sent to the DPP for advice.

The Magistrate, Mr Bankole Oluwasanmi, ordered the remand of the defendant for one month and adjourned to December 24.
