Man remanded for raping 8-yr-old girl

A 20-year-old farmer, Yakubu La’ari of Alangaf village, Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State has been remanded by a Chief Magistrate Court in Damaturu for defiling an 8-year-old girl.

Police Prosecutor, Hayatu Musa, told the court that the father of the victim reported the matter to the Divisional Police station in Damagum on May 31, 2017 saying that the accused person took his 8-year-old daughter to the bush on bicycle and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her.

He said, as a result, the victim sustained serious injury in her private part, thereby committing an offense contrary to section 246 and 283 of the panel code law.

When the First Information Report was read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Hadiza Lawan Musa, ordered that the accused be remanded in court custody until August 7, 2017 for hearing.
