Man remanded for parading self as judge in Kano

A man, Muhammad Sani Hotoro, has been remanded in prison for allegedly parading himself as a judge in Kano State.

The court was told that Hotoro presented himself as a judge from the Jigawa State Judiciary when he went to a Shari’a court in Kurna to secure the bail of two persons charged with fraud and criminal breach of trust.

His bail request was granted on the condition that his residence be visited, which he promptly rejected.

Upon further interrogation, the suspect admitted that he was never a court judge but had worked in the judiciary.

He pleaded guilty to the charge of impersonation and asked the court for leniency.

Khadi Umar Lawan Abubakar ordered the remand of the accused in prison till September 23, 2024.
