Man remanded for defiling 12-yr-old girl

the offence contravenes 357 of the Criminal Code Cap C38 Laws

A magistrate court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has ordered the remand of a 55-year-old man, Ayinde Olukayode, at the correctional centre in the state for allegedly defiling a 12-yr-old girl.

The prosecutor, Mrs Shirley Atane, from Ekiti State Ministry of Justice, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in August 2020 in Ado-Ekiti.

According to her, the offence contravenes 357 of the Criminal Code Cap C38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

She urged the court to remand the defendant in a correctional centre, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Titilayo Ola-Olorun, ordered the remand of the defendant in the correctional centre, pending issuance of legal advice.

She adjourned the case until July 27, 2021, for mention.
