Man remanded for camping housewife in Kwara

A 25-year-old man, Yakubu Alabi, has been remanded in a correction centre for allegedly enticing and camping one Zainab Abdulmumini in a friend’s house for three days despite knowing that she is married.

The defendant, resident of Jabi area in Ilorin East LGA of Kwara State, was brought to court on a three-count charge bordering on kidnapping, adultery and enticing a married woman contrary to Sections 271, 387 and 389 of the Penal Code.

According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), Zainab was a girlfriend to the accused before she married her husband, Adamu Musa, in 2022.

The FIR reads in part: “But in February, 2023, Zainab called you to pick her up at the Gambari area, Ilorin, and you took her to the house of one Taye Ganiyu at the Gaa Osibi area of Ilorin where she stayed for three days before you dropped her off at the Post Office area.

“Further investigation revealed that you have been enticing and instigating the victim to run away from her husband with the intention to marry her without the knowledge of her husband and guardian.”

The prosecutor, Stephen Sado, urged the court to remand the suspect.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Ahmad Dasuki, remanded the suspect and adjourned the case to March 27, 2023.
