The mother told police at Warewa divisional headquarters, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area that while she went out to spread some clothes she washed at about 7pm on the fateful day, she heard her four-year-old daughter crying in the room of the suspect.
She further told the police that when she entered the room, she met the suspect defiling her daughter.
The police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told newsmen on Tuesday that the DPO, Warewa division, Folashade Tanaruno, quickly detailed detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.
“On interrogation, he admitted to have committed the crime, claiming that he didn’t know what came over him,” he said.
Oyeyemi quoted the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, to have directed that the suspect be transferred to the anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and prosecution.
