Man rapes 10-year-old in Ondo

Detectives from the Ondo State Police Command have arrested one Ojo Akerele for allegedly having carnal knowledge of a 10-year-old girl. 

 The 45-year-old was accused of luring the victim with N100 to an uncompleted building where she was defiled. 

 The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ondo State, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, disclosed the arrest of the suspect on Tuesday in a statement.

“The victim (names withheld) aged 10, was lured to an uncompleted building by the suspect (Akerele) where he had carnal knowledge of her, after which he gave her N100. 

“The suspect claimed that the girl usually comes with her friend to collect N100 from him daily and that while she was asking for the money, he drew her closer and made out with her,” Mrs Odunlami added in the statement. 

 In another development, the PPRO said the police had also arrested a robbery suspect, Jimoh Joseph, who allegedly used military camouflage to rob his victims identified as Messrs Omolayo Akinmuleya and Emmanuel Ikusewa, and disposses them of their property and valuables. 

 She stated that the two victims were robbed of N1, 203,000 after buying fuel at a filling station in Ikirun, Osun State.

 “The victims were handcuffed and a sum of N500, 000 was transferred from one of the victims’ accounts. Also N301,000 was transferred to Paylon Net account; N79,000 was transferred to First Bank account and N500,000 was transferred to an unknown bank,” she explained.

 The PPRO added that the victims were also robbed of two iPhone Promax 13/14 valued at N1,400,000, a Rose gold earring valued at N350,000 and a cash sum of N73,000 at gunpoint. 

 She added that the suspects would be charged as soon as the investigation was completed.
