The police in Lagos State have arraigned a man, Oke Uche, before an Ejigbo magistrates’ court for duping a woman N5 million.

The police said the accused collected the money from the victim, one Chidimma, under the pretense that he was going to open a joint business.

The accused, who the police described as a fake lover boy, promised the victim marriage after the joint business blossoms.

But rather than fulfill his side of the bargain, the police said the accused bolted away with money since 2021 and that all effort to trace him were not successful.

The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, told the magistrate that it took the police months to track down the accused at Ikotun, Lagos.

He said the accused admitted collecting the amount from the woman.

The Magistrate, A. K. Dosumu, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned.
