A businessman and resident of the Yankaba area of Nassarawa Local Government Area in Kano State, Muhammad Abubakar Muhammad, has narrated how his wife and three children escaped being kidnapped.
While reacting to the abduction of a five-year-old child in Kano, he said, “It was a fateful Tuesday evening, December 7 when my wife along with our three children set out to go for shopping at the popular Ado Bayero Mall along Zoo Road in Kano.
“They stopped a commercial Keke Napep rider who will take them there along the road.
“It was supposed to be a journey of around N300 but the Keke rider said they should just pay 100 Naira. She agreed and got on board.
“Few minutes into their journey, she heard him answering to a phone call saying in Hausa ‘an samu’ – meaning, ‘I got it’, adding that they should meet at a particular meeting point which she wasn’t conversant with and had forgotten the exact name of the place.
“The moment she heard that, she became suspicious of the rider and instructed him to stop and drop them.
“He refused, saying that he must take her to the place she said she was going to.
“When she insisted and threaten to shout, he stopped and she alighted along with her children who went out first.
“As she was about exiting her other leg, he zoomed off and ran fast away without even waiting to collect his money.”
The issue of kidnapping has been ravaging some communities in Kano, for a while, especially Kawaji area.
