Man nabbed robbing with toy gun

A 25 year-old man, John Nwosu, who was alleged to be robbing members of the public armed with toy gun along Iba Bridge, in Ojo area of Lagos, has been arrested.

Police said that the suspect usually operates on the  two-kilometer link bridge between 6 pm and 10pm alone, using the gun to threaten his victims to hand over their belongings to him.

The police said that the suspect had been on their wanted list since two weeks, after some passengers, on board of a commercial bus heading towards Lagos State University (LASU), lodged complaints.

The police said that the activities of the suspect had become so notorious that those who ply the bridge are afraid to use the area in the evening and morning hours.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, who confirmed the arrest, said that the suspect was nabbed by surveillance team deployed to Aratumi/Ishasi on the LASU-Igando expressway.

Elkana said that in the same vein, policemen attached to Ijora Badia Police station, arrested a 25 year-old armed robbery suspects while they were attacking members of the public.
