Man nabbed in Ogun with car snatched in Lagos

The police in Ogun State have arrested an armed robbery suspect, Daniel Sunday, who was in possession of a Toyota Camry car he allegedly snatched from his victim at Lekki in Lagos State.

The suspect was arrested following information received by the policemen attached to Ogere Divisional Headquarters on the suspicious movement of four men around Agunwarogo area of Ogere in Ikenne LGA.

The spokesman of the police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Monday, said following receipt of the information, the DPO at Ogere, Abiodun Ayinde, led his detectives to the area where the four men were seen with a Toyota Camry car marked AAA 212 GJ.

According to him, the suspects, on sighting the police officers, took to their heels but were chased by the team, leading to the arrest of one, and that a policeman, Peter Olajide, was injured during the confrontation.

He said, “The vehicle was searched and the license bearing the phone number of the owner was seen in it. A call was placed to the number and one Mrs. Phelomina who claimed to be the owner of the car confirmed that the car was snatched in Lagos at gunpoint.”

Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, had ordered immediate transfer of the suspect to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation, and that the CP also directed that the other members of the gang must be brought to book within the shortest possible period.
