The Commissioner of Police of the FCT, Bala Ciroma, has disclosed that a 47-year-old man, John Griphin, has been arrested for offering a bribe of N200,000 to police detectives to halt an investigation.

CP Ciroma who stated this during a press briefing in Abuja yesterday, said the suspect offered the money to the officers investigating a child trafficking case involving him.

The CP said the suspect was arrested by the command’s Anti-One Chance Unit which was investigating a reported case of child trafficking.

He said the officers, after collecting the money, registered it among exhibits recovered from the suspect.

He also said officers from the command dislodged the hideout of some kidnappers and arrested them, adding that various kinds of sophisticated arms and operational vehicles were recovered.

The CP added that, “We have also been able to arrest some suspects for incest and other criminal offenses,” and while commending residents of the FCT for their continuous support to the police, enjoined them to be security conscious.
