Man lynched for attempting to steal baby in Niger IDP camp

A 30-year-old man identified as Abbas Musa has been beaten to death by youths in Gwada, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, for attempting to abduct a three-year-old boy from an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp.

The police spokesman in the state, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident but said the abduction was outside the camp.

DSP Abiodun said, “One Abbas Musa, aged 30, of Sha-Kwana, Zumba, was lynched by a mob. The suspect was found in possession of a baby suspected to have been stolen from Jaga-Jaga area of Gwada, and not in an IDP camp as speculated.”
