A middle-aged man, Kingsley Igwe, has stabbed his wife to death with a knife in Nise, Awka South of the state.
The suspect, according to a witness, ran amok in circumstances yet to be understood and stabbed his wife, Oyinye Obi, 31, with a kitchen knife, inflicting multiple injuries on her body which eventually led to her death.

Confirming the incident and the arrest, the police spokesperson in the state, CSP Haruna Mohammed, said police operatives at 3-3 Police Station at about 4:00am yesterday, arrested Kingsely Igwe, 35, of Nise, Awka South LGA but resident at Dueze Street, Otigba, in 3-3 Area of Anambra State, for killing his wife with a kitchen knife.
He said the police detectives moved to the scene and took the victim to Apex Hospital for medical attention where she was certified dead on arrival by a medical doctor.
He added that the corpse was deposited at the morgue of the hospital for autopsy.
According to him, the knife used in perpetrating the act was also recovered and registered as an exhibit.
He said, however, that the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Bala Kuryas, has directed the DPO to transfer the case to State CID, Awka, for a discreet investigation in order to unravel the actual cause of the incident.
