Edo State Police Command has arrested an 18 years old man, Akpobomen Samuel, for allegedly killing his mother identified as Gift Akpobomen and raped the corpse.
It was gathered that Samuel who hails from Delta state carried out the act last week in Ologbo community in Ipoba-Okah local government area of Edo state.
Samuel was paraded by the state Police Commissioner, Babatunde Johnson Kokumo alongside 87 suspects arrested for allegedly involved in various crimes in the state.
It was further gathered that Samuel killed the mother and slept with the corpse for money ritual as instructed by a ritualist who is at large.
It was learnt that Samuel’s grandmother who came to the house so that the deceased would accompany her to the church caught him making love to his mother and raised alarm that attracted the community.
Speaking with journalists, Samuel said a ritualist known as “One love” instructed him to kill his mother and sleep with the corpse to become rich.
“The ritualist told me that after making love with the corpse, I should cut her ears and fingers and bring them to him to perform the ritual. After sleeping with her, I was about to cut the parts when I was caught. My mother was sleeping, so I hold her neck and pressed it till she died; when she pass away I started making love to her.
“The man who instructed sells Indian hemp in our area; I used to go there to see him but one day he put something in a drink and gave it to me to drink and told me to go and kill my mother,” he said.
He said “after taken the drink, I didn’t know what I was doing, I just go back home to kill my mother and make love to her. I work in a bread-making company, but the ritualist said I will become rich after the act,” he narrated.
Also paraded was Odion Jimoh who was alleged to have killed a youth leader in his community for ritual.
The incident was said to have happened at Ayogwiri community in Etsako West local government area of Edo state.
The suspect was said to have traced the deceased to where he was contracted for work and killed him with a weeding hoe before cutting off his head.
The suspect after committing the crime was said to have absconded and hide in the church.
It further gathered that the man who gave the deceased work discovered the corpse when he went there to see the extent of work done.
Speaking with journalists, the suspect said he doesn’t have problem with the deceased and that he didn’t know what came over him.
”I killed him, I don’t know what came over me because we don’t have any problem,” he said.
