Police in Anambra have arrested a man in Nnewi north local government area for the killing of his 85-year-old mother and his two children on Thursday.
Emeka Ezimadu, 47, from Opuneze Uruagu, used a machete to kill his children—Ifechukwu, 9, Mmeso, 2—and his mother Agnes while they slept.
He injured three of his other children—Nonso, 12, Chinaemerem, 11 and Ngozi, 8.
He is said to have run amok in circumstances yet to be ascertained, police said.
Police spokesman SP Haruna Mohamed said detectives visited the scene and rushed the victims to hospital.
A doctor certified two of the children and the aged mother dead.
The injured children have been hospitalised.
The State criminal investigations department in Awka is investigating.
